'04 Pontiac Grand Am GT SC/T Ram Air
March 2014 - Cruise Instrument Indicator
Having owned a '02 Grand Am GT before this one and working with a few other '99+ Grand Ams, I noticed what I
originally thought was a light out on my instrument cluster. Instead I found the GM did away with
this light in the '04 Grand Ams. The light I'm talking about is the one that shows up on the left-hand
side of the instrument cluster when you set your cruise and you are actively "cruising".
It bugged me that GM did away with this light. With some electronics help from my father, we found that
it doesn't take a lot to bring this feature back. GM did not change any software systems, all they did
was leave two components off the main board for the cluster, an LED and a resister. If you are handy
with a soldering iron, all you need to do is add a 510ohm resistor to position R30 and an LED to position DS1 (I
used a super bright green LED, it's a little brighter then the original green GM used, but it works).
That's all you need to do and it works just like it did for previous years of Grand Am.
